- Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. The beneficial effect is obtained with a supplemental folic acid daily intake of 400 μg for at least one month before and up to three months after conception. Neural tube defects have multiple risk factors and altering one of these risk factors may or may not have a beneficial effect.

- Vitamin K has a special relationship with Vitamin D, they work together to influence the amount of Calcium that is absorbed into the body and help direct it to the structure of bones, preventing the accumulation of Calcium in blood vessels. Vitamin K helps contribute to normal blood clotting(10).
- If you’re looking to get pregnant, it’s especially important to maintain adequate folate (Folic Acid) levels before you conceive.
